Toronto Police Release Tip Line for Investigation into the Murder of Christine Jessop

On December 31, 1984, Christine Jessop, who had been missing from her home in Queensville, Ontario since October 3, 1984, was found in Sunderland, Ontario. She had been sexually assaulted and murdered.

On Thursday, October 15, 2020, the Toronto Police Service announced the positive identification of the person responsible for the DNA sample found on Christine\'s underwear at the time of her death.

Calvin Hoover, 28-years-old at that time, lived in Toronto, Durham Region, and Port Hope until his death in 2015.

Since that announcement, police have received more than 60 tips from the public.

As investigators continue to trace the steps of Calvin Hoover from 1984 to 2015, they are asking for any and all information that could assist them with their efforts.

"The officers with the Cold Case section of Homicide have been grateful for the information they have received so far," said Inspector Hank Idsinga, Unit Commander of Homicide. Investigation into eight knife-point robberies, Update, Man arrested Jiefeng Liang, 24

The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to advise the public of an arrest in relation to eight knife-point robberies.

It is alleged that:

- between February 2020 and March 2020, a man entered various spas or massage parlours posing as a client

- in each instance, he forced the victims into a chokehold then held a knife to their throat

- the man would then demand their money and, in some instances, their personal belongings

- he then escaped each location on foot

- no injuries were sustained by any of the victims

On October 22, 2020, members of the Toronto Police Service\'s Hold Up Squad, through the assistance of the public and media, were able to determine the location of a wanted man.

Jiefeng Liang, 24, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1. twelve counts of Robbery with an Offensive Weapon
2. ten counts of Forcible Confinement
3. three counts of Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence

He was scheduled to appear in court on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 10 a.m., at Toronto East Court, 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, Room 412.

Man Faces Child Pornography Charges, Chad Cornish, 30

The Toronto Police Service would like to advise the public of an arrest made in a child pornography investigation.

On Thursday, October 22, 2020, members of the Toronto Police Service\'s Child Exploitation Section executed a Criminal Code search warrant in the area of Mount Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue East.

It is alleged that:

- a man accessed and possessed child sexual abuse material

On Thursday, October 22, 2020, Chad Cornish, 30, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1. Two counts of Possession Child Pornography
2. Two counts of Access Child Pornography

He was scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at 2 p.m., in room 507.

Surrey RCMP advises that the 41-year-old male who was reported missing on October 21, 2020 has been located and is safe.
