Fatal Collision #25/2020, Kipling Avenue and Stevenson Road area, Arrest made

On Saturday, September 19, 2020, at 6:16 a.m., police received a report of a collision at Kipling Avenue and Stevenson Road, in Toronto.

It is alleged that:

- a 62-year-old man was crossing Kipling Avenue from the west side to the east side just north of Stevenson Road

- a silver 2005 Nissan Altima was being driven southbound Kipling Avenue in the left lane, lane one of two

- the Nissan struck the pedestrian as he made his way into the southbound left lane of Kipling Avenue

- the pedestrian sustained major trauma as a result of this collision and was taken by emergency run to hospital.

- the pedestrian did not survive and he succumbed to his injuries.


The driver of the Nissan Altima was identified.

As a result of the investigation, Mureithi Premji, 24, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:

1) Operation of a conveyance Causing Death while Impaired
2) Operation of a conveyance Causing Death while Exceeding 80mgs

He will appear in court on Saturday, September 19, at 10 a.m., at Old City Hall, room 112.

Police are interested in speaking with anyone that attended the scene of the collision or were in the area of Kipling Avenue and Finch Avenue West, that may have seen the Nissan.

On Thursday, September 17, 2020, at 3:46 p.m., officers responded to a report of a fail to remain collision that occurred at the intersection of Belfield Road and Martin Grove Road.
